We all want to know how to lose weight and how to do so quickly. The truth is that weight loss which is achieved
quickly is unsustainable and often unhealthy. Those of us who don’t mind losing the extra weight over a long period
of time will find that they won’t put the excess weight back on easily. In reality, most of us go into a frenzy a
couple of weeks before the summer or an important occasion such as a wedding and strive to lose weight as quickly
as possible. There are at least 10 different ways to lose weight quickly when needed.
) Water intake - this is the most important factor for weight loss. Increasing your water intake to 8 glasses of
cold water a day will increase your metabolism and leave you feeling constantly refreshed so you won’t feel too
sluggish to move. A glass of water first thing in the morning and a glass before and during each meal will leave
you feeling slightly less hungry resulting in eating a smaller portion.
) Eat small portions, more frequently - This is known as grazing. It is a common misconception amongst dieters that
one must eat three meals a day, no more, no less. The more effective method is to break up the normal portions
consumed and rather than consuming it in three meals, spread it out into six meals. This can include healthy
snacks. This way your metabolism is constantly working.
) Be sugar aware - Go for fresh fruit juice rather than sodas and “juice drinks” which contain unreal amounts of
added sugars and sweeteners. Choose fresh fruit as opposed to canned, processed fruits.
) Optimise your digestive system - Increasing your fibre intake by consuming as many fruits and vegetables as
possible as well as drinking herbal teas such as fennel and green tea will ensure fatty toxins are flushed from
your system. These are much better alternatives to normal tea/coffee and salty snacks.
) Move! - Move as much as you can, take the stairs rather than the elevator, stand up more often, fiddle with
things, pace while on the phone, wriggle your fingers and toes, dance while cleaning.
) Reduce salt and sodium - In combination with an increased water intake and an optimised digestive system,
reducing salt and sodium will ensure that excess water weight has dropped off within a week.
) Intervals - Exercising in intervals so that your body is constantly experiencing mini ‘shocks’ so to speak will
mean that your body is constantly adjusting thereby you are able to burn more calories in a smaller amount of time.
This can be as simple as jogging on the spot for two minutes then switching to star jumps for one minute.
) Chew! - Sugar is one of the main culprits of weight gain; it can actually only be digested in the saliva. The
longer we chew, the more time our saliva has to digest the food. This allows you to lose weight more efficiently.
) Eat white meat instead of red meat. In particular avoid pork meat including all pork meat products. White meats
such as fish and chicken are not only sources of protein but also sources of essential oils and vitamins without
the same fat as red meat.
) Do NOT avoid carbohydrates - rather reduce them to around 50% of your food intake. Carbohydrates are essential
for providing us with energy, the energy without which we would not be able to exercise and effectively lose
weight.
These are just a few amongst the dozens of small changes you can make to your lifestyle in order to effectively
lose weight fast.
